Mounting

Where a sculpture will end up is something to be considered.  It can also determine the design of the pedestal. Volz wanted the the look and feel of the 1860's when Dunton lived. Here cement was poured to support the 1100  pound bronze statue. Limestone was carved for the nameplate.

Volz wanted the pedestal to be very traditional and distinguished. This is a small model.

The park before the statue.

Work crews built a wood mold, then poured concrete into it. Here the concrete has hardened and the mold can be taken apart.
